Of these Bigo is the most extensive, the best preserved and the most fascinating, consisting of deep, wide trenches covered with thick vegetation, creepers and trees. The trenches lie on a flat-topped hill looking north to the ford across the Katonga. Three other earthworks, Kagago, Kasonko and Ntusi, lie within eight miles, and all four sites are bound by legend to the north bank of the river.
